Something really unique about this race was that you were given a 'running mate' at check-in. In your race packet received a at check in, you received a card that included information about your greyhound running mate. Runners were encouraged to go interact with the greyhounds and their families and hopefully meet "your" greyhound in the process. It was really cool to get to meet the families of the greyhounds and hear about their stories and the greyhounds.
About 10 minutes before the start of the race we were called to "the post" (start line) to get ready for pre-race announcements and the National Anthem. We took off promptly at 8:30 and all the greyhounds and their families lined the start area to cheer us on.
Brendan was our big winner today coming in 2nd in his age group. Even not feeling 100%, he was swift enough to earn some bling today. Awesome job, Brendan!
