I decided that today it was only appropriate for me to wear my 26.2 shirt to show my marathoner pride. I hope everyone has a happy Boston Marathon day!
It is Patriot's Day....more commonly known as BOSTON MARATHON DAY! Today, thousands of runners will be taking to the streets of Boston to chase their unicorn! As runners make their way down the streets of Boston to make the right on Hereford and left on Boylston. I like to consider today pretty much the "World Cup" of running. I have a number of friends lacing up this morning to live out their Boston Marathon dreams. As much as I wish that I could be lining the streets to cheer for each and every runner, it is not possible. The best thing to being able to physically be in Boston today, is to virtually cheer! Thanks to the wonderful team at the Boston Athletic Association, no matter where you are on Patriot's Day, you can feel the Boston energy. The live stream from Boston will start at 9:30am today (April 20, 2015). There are a number of divisions and start waves, but the first division to take off will be the Mobility Impaired division at 8:50am EST followed by Push Rim and Handcycles. The elite women take to the streets at 9:32 with the elite men and Wave 1 at 10:00am EST. The live stream can be found on the Boston Athletic Association website here. All this is great, but with thousands of runners, how can you find your runner? Last year I utilized the Boston Marathon App's runner tracking on my friends in order to check in on them during their race. Yes, I was a total creeper on them but they love it! Sign up for runner tracking here and you will receive real-time info on each runner that you register to track. It will provide you with their splits and ETA at the finish line. If you know what they are wearing, you can watch the finish line stream closely to see them cross the finish line. Worst case, you can always rewind the feed slightly to the time that they crossed and re-watch the moment :) I am sending sparkly running vibes for all of the runners to have the race that they want to have and stay safe and run strong. Also, thank you to all of the volunteers, spectators, and of course BAA officials and emergency personnel that are keeping everyone safe today! I decided that today it was only appropriate for me to wear my 26.2 shirt to show my marathoner pride. I hope everyone has a happy Boston Marathon day! Question of the Day: Who are you cheering for at the Boston Marathon today? Leave them some love in the comments!

I don't know anyone (personally) that is running this year, but my friend is in for next year so I can't wait to use the runner tracking app to support her. I think it's super brave of everyone to get out there again this year and run their hearts out. I didn't always realize how much went into "running the Boston Marathon" but now, as part of the running community, the accomplishment seems slightly unreal to me!

Every race is special, but Boston just has something extra to it. The amazing athletes competing with each having his or her own story to their journey to the finish line. The passion and emotions behind it are like nothing else. I could only dream of running Boston, but I love supporting my friends and fellow runners!
