With the coming of Spring means festivals popping up all over the place. Yes, I am a total nerd for festivals (especially those including crafts). Brookhaven kicked of the 2016 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival with a 5K run. This was their 2nd year hosting the race, and I was excited to give it a try this year.
Once getting over to the race area we lined up on a paved trail at the park. The race director gave us our directions which basically told us we were running a 2-loop course and where to turn to the finish line on the second lap. I was a little apprehensive when I saw the paved path because it was fairly narrow, but it all ended up ok.
Hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger though, right? Regardless of the hills in the park, I have to say that it was a nice course. It is nice to run outside of the hustle and bustle of the busy city roads, so I enjoyed the course ran mostly in the park.
While I didn't have my fastest time, I was still pretty proud of how I ran. I was about a minute off of my PR, but I felt good running today. After I finished I waited near the finish line for Momma K to come in. I finally spotted her pink skirt coming down the path and I gave her all of the cheers that I had to finish strong.
