The race started and finished at Park Tavern at Piedmont Park which is a great location with a good amount of parking (for a minimal hourly rate). While the race had pre-race day packet pickup available at West Stride (Atlanta's only female owned running store), race day pickup was available as well which is always great to have. Everything was super well organized and the volunteers were absolutely wonderful and attentive to get everyone through the process quickly.
The days leading up to the race as well as the day of the race were full of constant rain which lead to some interesting conditions in Park Tavern. Fortunately, the rain had let off before the race, but the damage was already done in the park. Despite the weather leading up the event, everyone was in great spirits
My absolute favorite part about running this race was the support. Not the support of volunteers (even though they rocked), it was the support of fellow runners and walkers. Everyone cheered each other on and/or exchanged encouraging smiles to one another. Sometimes people get too caught up in competing with one another (even though competing is good), that we forget to be supportive of others. There was just something so completely awesome about watching women supporting each other throughout the course.
