For today's Friday Five, I figured it was only appropriate to highlight five of the things that I am most looking forward to this weekend as I head to Savannah for another weekend of Rock n Roll fun!
Shoot, have you seen the Rock n Roll Marathon Series bling? Come on! They seriously have some of the absolute best bling around! While their individual races each have their own medal designs unique to the city, they also have challenge medals to up the ante a bit.
I will be earning 5 medals this weekend in total - the Rock n Roll Savannah Half Marathon, 5K, and 1 Mile finisher medals, Remix Challenge medal for running on both Saturday and Sunday, and Groupie for running 4 Rock N Roll half marathons (or longer) in the 2017 calendar year. Fact: I run for bling. Rock n Roll did an AMAZING job once again on this year's medals - they really capture some of the unique beauty of Savannah.
Our family is usually super pre-planning when it comes to traveling, but this time is different. We have a lot of trips coming up and honestly time slipped away from me to plan an itinerary of things I wanted to see and do. This weekend will be a lot of playing it by ear and just exploring Savannah at our leisure and enjoying what the city has to offer. Right now we have our eyes set on a few different places to eat and perhaps a river boat cruise in the afternoon (weather permitting).
I love race expos, and if anyone knows how to do a race expo, it is Rock n Roll. There are always so many great vendors to check out and I cannot wait to see some new product and of course make a few purchases there. Hey Geico, I am coming for your spin the wheel game, because I am destined to win eventually!
The people are what make race weekends so amazing. Over the past few years I have made some of the most amazing friends from around the country. Yes, we might only see each other a few times a year (or less), but the time we get together is so insanely fun. A lot of my #RockNBlog and #WeRunSocial friends will be bringing the party to Savannah this weekend, so I will be in some great company for sure. I know I am ready, but is Savannah ready?
I watched the course preview video last week and I am so crazy excited to run this course. The elevations look absolutely amazing (compared to Atlanta especially) and you run past some beautiful and historic spots around Savannah as you make your way to the finish line.
