1. Favorite Local Race (Atlanta) Hands down Peachtree Road Race on July 4th is my absolute favorite Atlanta race. Period. This race is everything that I love into one - America, running, friends/family, amazing course support, and more! Remember, Atlanta Track Club members (as of 2/1/17) receive guaranteed entry from March 1-14 - otherwise the lottery is open from March 15-22 for non-members |
2. Favorite Destination It was so awesome to go back to Pittsburgh in May to run the Pittsburgh 5K and Half Marathon! It was great to go back 'home' after not being there for 20 years. The entire race weekend was awesome and full of sightseeing, family, and friends. Oh yea, and 16.2 miles of running some of the iconic bridges and parts of Pittsburgh! I am excited to be returning to Pittsburgh again in 2016. If you want to join me and several thousands other awesome runners, use code GILBERT17 to save $10 off of registration. |
3. Favorite Medal I admit it - I LOVE bling! Between us, I have even signed up for races just because of the bling sometimes. One of my favorite medals this past year was definitely the Hotlanta Half Marathon medal. First, it is pretty huge but even better is the fact that it is a double spinner. The sun shaped design definitely stands out in my medal collection. I cannot wait to see what Hotlanta comes up with for 2017, but they never disappoint. Want to join me on June 11, 2017? 4. Favorite New Thing A game changer for me has been Knuckle Lights. With a run streak quickly approaching 1000 days, a lot of miles are done after the sun goes down (especially when it gets dark by 6pm in the winter). Knuckle Lights let me see where I am going, but also adds safety because cars can now see me in the neighborhood. The new rechargeable Knuckle Lights are always charged and ready to go by the front door. |
5. Favorite Memory Gosh, there have been so many awesome memories this past year! It is so hard to choose just one! If I had to pick though, it would be Rock n Roll Las Vegas. There were so many of my running friends all in one place for the weekend - plus, it IS Vegas after all. Running down the Las Vegas Strip at night with the lights of the casinos lighting the way is just amazing. Is it time to go back yet? |
