The race was held at Piedmont Park which offers ample parking for an event of this size as well as enough space to hold a 5K mostly within the park with 1300+ runners. I arrived just before 8am and quickly met up with Jennifer and Brendan before heading to the 'secret' indoor bathrooms and heading to the start.
A sea of Santas were as far as the eye could see. I opted to be one of the few not in my Santa suit as it was a foggy and fairly warm morning and that felt suit was not going be good for me. I knew I made the right decision to not rock the felt Santa suit when I saw a large portion of runners removing all or a portion of their suit along the way.
After crossing the finish line you received your adorable snowman finisher medal and got to enjoy some refreshments in the park. Of course cookies were on hand because what is a Christmas event without cookies, right? The awards ceremony and 1 mile fun run took place after the 5K concluded. Brendan and Jennifer both placed in their age groups and scored some extra bling!
