One huge perk of staying 1/4 mile from the start line of a race is that you get to sleep in - YES! While "sleeping in" only meant 5:45 today, it was much better than a 3:00 wake up if I were driving to the race. I left the room around 6:15 to head towards the race area. I first met up with one of my fellow INKnBURN ambassadors - Jeneen.
After 13.1 miles of rain (and some periods of a pretty hard rain) I made it to the finish. I was soaked, but I did it. I actually think the rain made the race go by a lot faster for me in a strange way. As I crossed the finish line, I realized that I had a course PR of over 20 minutes! Not too shabby for a rain-filled morning.
After thawing out Momma K, Papa J, and I met our friend Jill for brunch. Jill was one of the awesome spectators lining the streets of Atlanta cheering for us. Thank you again Jill! It was a truly awesome morning and I cannot wait to return for my 5th Publix Georgia 1/2 Marathon again next March.
