The Rock n Roll Savannah 5K was done, and now it was time to get ready for the 1 Mile. With about 45 minutes between crossing the finish line of the 5K and the 1 Mile starting, the turn around had to be quick. I had just enough time to use the restroom, drink some water, head to gear check to get my 1 Mile bib and timing tag, and change my shirt. There was a total strategy behind all of this. With a 2:30 start time, the corral for the 1 Mile opened a few minutes before the race. The field was a lot smaller for the 1 Mile, but the energy was just as great. We were off and on our way! I honestly didn't know what to expect when we took off. I don't know what running a 1 mile race is like, but I found out pretty quickly. Before I even knew it we already hit the turn around to head back to the finish line! Say whaaat?!?! I told y'all that I would find out pretty quickly what a 1 miler is like. My runner brain was so confused when I hit the turn around. Just as with the 5K, the final stretch was ran inside of Grayson Stadium. Just like THAT my first 1 Miler was complete! I guess since it was my first 1 Miler, it was a PR, right?!? Haha! What is really sweet is that we got an awesome finisher medal for the 1 Miler as well! Why exactly did I want to run the 1 Mile right after the 5K (and after yesterday's half marathon)? The answer is simple - bling and PIE! New to Rock n Roll Savannah this year was the Sweet Georgia Pie Challenge. Runners who complete both the 5K and the 1 Mile received a pie for completing the challenge. Bling and pie? Count me in! It was a successful weekend for sure in Savannah. I ran my 2nd fastest half on Saturday, got an automatic PR in the 1 Mile, and completed the Remix Challenge and Sweet Georgia Pie Challenge. Thank you Rock 'n' Roll for an awesome race weekend in Savannah! With so many race distances available, there was really something for everyone. All of the staff, volunteers, emergency personnel, bands, and fellow runners made it a ROCKIN' time for sure. I cannot wait for 2017! Want to join in on the Rock 'n' Roll fun?
