Welcome to the Run Dunwoody 5K! I stumbled upon this race via an email from Run Georgia advertising the race a few weeks ago. My calendar was free that day, so why not!?!
I was actually a little happy that I couldn't start out fast as sometimes I tend to start off too fast. I told myself going into the race that I wanted to just run and not pay attention to the pace on my watch. Sometimes it just feels good to run on how you are feeling and not have those mental speed bumps of seeing your pace and stressing out over what you have already ran - just focus on what is ahead and take one stride at a time. After 3 miles of slight rolling hills, I knew that I was running a good race. As I approached the finish line, I knew that my PR was in sight based on the clock. It was going to be close so I just had to throw down everything that I had left in me.
I was beyond stoked when I crossed the finish line and learned that I beat my PR! It might have only been by a few seconds, but I DID IT! To make it even sweeter, I even ran my fastest mile EVER! In the past 2 weeks I have shaved 30 seconds off of my fastest mile! Wowzers!
