Whoever said that running is an inexpensive sport obviously has not seen my running expenditures recently. From running shoes every three months, to clothes, to night gear, and all those other 'must haves' the costs can add up for sure! What if you could earn Dick's Sporting Goods reward certificates just for getting your steps in each day and going on your training runs? That is right, earn free rewards certificates just for doing the things that you are already doing!
Last year I received an email from my friends at Pittsburgh Marathon about a new rewards program from Dick's Sporting Goods, MOVE, and I have been hooked ever since. MOVE is a feature on the DICK’S Sporting Goods App that lets runners sync their FitBit or MapMyRun app to earn points to cash in for Rewards. BOOM! Nothing beats free running gear, right?
- Download the DICK’S Sporting Goods App and open the MOVE feature
- Sync your FitBit or MapMyRun account to MOVE
- Get up and MOVE to score points toward your ScoreCard balance
- Cash in points to earn Rewards

A new feature to the Pittsburgh Marathon training program in 2016 was a partnership with MilestonePod. These awesome little shoe pods help analyze your runs with amazing statistics that go deeper into your run than what many GPS watches do. (Checkout my review here)
Run for a Reason With 40+ different charity teams in 2016, there are so many different ways to help others as you run Pittsburgh. Even better, you can chose to run with charity groups in different distances too (5K, 1/2 Marathon, and Marathon). I ran as a charity runner last year and it was one of the most rewarding experiences. Every time that I went on a training run, I could feel the support of all of the people that donated to my fundraising efforts and knowing that my running was going to impact the lives of others gave me feelings that are indescribable. Yes, there were times that I didn't want to run, but knowing that I was running for others made me lace up and get it done.
