Did you know that Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series has tour stops (aka - races) in over 30 cities globally!?! If you want to be a world rocker and add some stamps to your passport, you can travel to cities such as Madrid, Liverpool, Vancouver, Madrid and more to log your miles. If staying stateside is more your thing, there are plenty of awesome options within in the U.S. such as Chicago, Washington D.C, San Diego, and my personal favorite, Las Vegas! Did you know that the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon is one of only two times a year that the Las Vegas Strip is closed? That's right, thousands of runners get full reign of the Las Vegas Strip and take on the Strip at night! If you plan on hitting up multiple tour stops, take advantage of their Tour Pass program and get more for your buck! |
Remix Challenge One weekend, two races, THREE sweet medals! At select tour stops, if you run on both Saturday and Sunday you can score the Remix Challenge medal for being a total rockstar! I love running the 5K on Saturday as a nice warm-up for the half marathon on Sunday, plus I cannot say no to earning even more medals! I absolutely adore the 2016 Remix Challenge medals that are a guitar with a spinning pick in the middle with the city name on it. I cannot wait to score a few of these this year! I already picked up my first one in Raleigh and it is probably one of my favorite medals in my collection. |
Combo Challenge The team at Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series really loves challenges. Included in their spread of bling to earn are limited edition combo challenge medals. These medals are earned for running marathons or half marathons at specific tour stops in the same calendar year. For example, the Southern Charm medal is earned for completing races in 3 of the 4 cities: New Orleans, Raleigh, Nashville, and Savannah. One of my favorites (but sadly not one I am earning this year) is the World Rocker medal for completing a tour stop in two countries in 2016. Be sure to check out the different combo challenges and plan your tour stops to earn some of this bonus bling! |
Heavy Medals The Heavy Medals program is probably one of my favorite parts of the Rock 'n' Roll Series. Check this out - if you enroll in the free Heavy Medals program and complete 2+ Rock 'n' Roll marathons or half marathons in a calendar year, so score some series bonus bling. After each additional tour stop that you complete a half marathon or longer, you receive your next Heavy Medal. At two tour stops you receive the Double Beat medal then work your way to the Gold Record for 10. The highest level of bling that you can acquire is the highly coveted Hall of Fame medal which you receive after completing 15 tour stops! Now, what bling are you going after this year? |
It is called the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series for a reason. Each race weekend not only has awesome bands playing along the race course to keep you motivated along the way, but their weekend headliners are absolutely amazing! Artists such as Mackelmore, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, and more have been a part of the headliner concerts on race weekend. The best part is that these concerts are included in your race entry. Free concerts? Yes, please. |
