A few weeks ago, I found out about a new race happening in my area, Turbo Dash 5K hosted by Cobb County Kia. With Peachtree Road Race on July 4th, there aren't many races happening in the area since many runners are gearing up for that, so I was excited to find something to run. The race was benefiting MUST Ministries which is an organization that I have worked with my previous employer a few years ago, so I figured this would be a good opportunity to head out and show some love to them.
All of the fast girls definitely stayed home in the air conditioning this morning. I was 12th overall female out of 90, 3rd female in the 30-39 age group (out of 16), and 39 of 122 runners. I had a pretty ugly race (especially in the last mile), so I was pretty stoked to see my results.
I have to take a moment though to give a shout out to my buddy Brendan...yes, AGAIN! Dude, after getting his first sub-30 last weekend (on a much flat course and cooler morning), he shaved ANOTHER 40 seconds (approximately) off of his PR this morning. If he is doing these things now, I can't imagine how fast he will be this fall!
It had been a little be of a stressful week in my personal life, so I definitely had a lot of tension in my shoulders. Let me tell you what, that 5 minute chair massage was AMAZING!
