We arrived to the race about an hour beforehand to give us time to eat, use the restroom and walk about 10 minutes to the startline from the parking lot. Momma K and I met up with a few friends in the parking lot before taking the walk to the start line.
Barb's 5K is held about 98% inside of Piedmont Park. The park is gorgeous anytime of year, but I am partial to the fall/winter in the park because you get a pretty perfect view of the skyline throughout the park. Well, the view should be lovely except for when it is cold rainy winter morning. The hills are mild, there is no traffic, and the path is nice and spacious to accommodate plenty of runners.
We were greeted at the finish line with finisher medals, heat sheets and water. At first I didn't think that I needed a heat sheet because I got warm in the jacket, but I am glad I did! I cooled off fast!
What is really awesome is that Barb stands out at the finish line cheering on the runners from the first finisher to the last finisher. That is pretty awesome if you ask me.
And like THAT Barb's 5K was a wrap! I really loved the course and the way flow of the course through Piedmont Park. While the park can be hilly in spots, the flow of the course made it gentle and not brutal.
