For a few years I have had numerous friends run the Brookhaven Bolt 5K and really enjoy it. After deliberating on what to do this weekend, I decided that Brookhaven Bolt was the choice for a number of reasons (location, word of mouth, and cause supported).
As I crossed the start, I was instantly stuck in the masses. Obviously not everyone places themselves in the correct area of the start, but it is still frustrating. Before I hit the mile 1 marker, things had thinned out quite a bit. There were still a few moments of congestion and an encounter with a child throwing their body out of the BOB stroller as the father was running. You just have to pack your patience sometimes, and that I did.
While I have never ran this course before, I knew that it was likely going to be a semi-hilly one based on races that I have ran in the area previously. As they say Atlanta is home to "heat, hills, and humidity", and this morning lived up to the saying for sure.
