The race was benefiting Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta which helps provide furniture free of charge to those in need in Atlanta. Their mission is to help make a house a home for families moving out of homelessness.
I crushed my first mile and actually ran my fastest mile ever! My entire first loop was solid and I was on pace for a PR. In the final .75 mile or so, we ended up going up a long steady hill that got the best of me. It wasn't that the hill was "that bad" (especially compared to Atlanta standards), but at this point in the race I just didn't have the energy to keep the pace that I was going at up the hill. I ended up missing my PR by about 10 seconds which I was a little bummed about, but I ran a good race which I was proud about.
