In order to get you ready for running the Hotlanta Half Marathon on June 10, 2018, here are my top five reasons to run the Hotlanta Half Marathon this year.
I don't know about you, but I totally feed off of course support. Whether it is a bullhorn, cowbells, signs, or dressing like a T-Rex, I love all the course support that is out in full force for the Hotlanta Half. Many different local running groups come out and cheer at various parts of the race course which makes for a great time. Granted, I know a lot of these enthusiastic spectators, but even if you don't know them, they are there to cheer for YOU on race day.
I can never get enough of running through downtown Atlanta. There are so many different places to check out on any race course in Atlanta. From historical sites to sporting event facilities and tourist destinations, there is a lot that Atlanta has to offer. Hotlanta Half Marathon does a fabulous job of taking runners through some of the best that Atlanta has to offer. Along the way, you pass Centennial Olympic Park, Turner Field (now the former home of the Atlanta Braves), run under the Olympic Rings, a loop through Piedmont Park, a tour of Georgia Tech, and even a stretch on the Atlanta Beltline (which is pretty darn flat). Atlanta Natives and those who have never been to Atlanta can all really appreciate the beauty of the city brought to you via the 13.1 mile Hotlanta Half Marathon course.
Does summer running in the South have you worried? Don't be! Hotlanta Half Marathon always takes runner safety very seriously. They always have ample water & nuun stations along the way, but even when scorching temps came in for last year's race, they stepped it up even more and added additional stations along the way. In addition, several cheer stations along the way had ice towels out that really helped keep you cool along the way.
Pemberton Place is a big part of the downtown area. Located right near the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Centennial Olympic Park, Pemberton Place is a great area for races in the area. There is ample parking to accommodate large numbers of runners, indoor restroom facilities, area attractions near by, and a large space for runners to visit sponsors and vendors and hang out a bit post race with family and friends.
I admit it, I love some great bling. Hotlanta Half Marathon always has some pretty sweet bling for sure. No generic circle medals here, folks. Nope, Hotlanta Half Marathon knows that runners love some great medals and always has some of the best medals each year. These medals definitely stand out in my medal collection and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us this year.
