Well, thanks to Winter Storm Jonas and his little attitude, Georgia ended up with a rare battle with a tad bit of snow and some ice. Go ahead and laugh my dear Northern friends, there is nothing worse than Southerners in the snow/ice/cold though.
***Disclaimer: I was contacted by Gone For A Run to partake in this event. While receiving complimentary entry to the event, no additional compensation was given and as always all thoughts are strictly my own.**** People often ask me why I run so many races. While there are many different reasons that I chose to race almost every weekend, one reason is that it keeps me accountable to getting my runs done. Let's face it, if you wake up on a Saturday morning and it is cold or raining, are you going to be excited to get out there and knock out 6 miles? Probably not so much. If you had a shirt and a sweet medal waiting for you, chances are you have a little more motivation to get out of bed and get it done. Seriously, the weather lately has been absolutely crazy in Georgia. We go from spring-like weather one day to down-right cold (by our standards) all in the same week. While some of us down south have been running outside this winter in just long sleeve shirts and pants, those up north have either had to bundle up to brave the elements or hop on the dreaded treadmill to get their miles in. Well, thanks to Winter Storm Jonas and his little attitude, Georgia ended up with a rare battle with a tad bit of snow and some ice. Go ahead and laugh my dear Northern friends, there is nothing worse than Southerners in the snow/ice/cold though. I have a lot of big races coming up with my main focus on a triple race weekend at one of the most magical places on Earth (5K, 10K, and half marathon over 3 days). As part of my final preparations for race weekend, I knew I needed to simulate running the three races by logging 2 miles on Friday, 4 on Saturday and a 15K on Sunday. Thanks to Gone For a Run's Four Magical Miles, I had the extra motivation to get out there and get my 4 miles in today. While originally my plan was for Momma K and I to head to one of our favorite running paths at the local park, some pretty cold temps and very strong winds made us change our plans. Yep, the dreaded treadmill. Seriously, I would rather do anything rather than be on the treadmill. However, with some pretty icy conditions and not owning proper gear to run in said conditions (remember it doesn't happen here often), the treadmill it was. Sigh. While my four miles weren't ran in the way that I originally set out for. I laced up my shoes and hit the treadmill for bit of afternoon fun. Knowing that I had some pretty awesome shiny bling waiting for me when I was done was definitely a bit of motivation. Thank you Gone For A Run for adding a little extra fun and excitement to getting my four miles in today. I doubt I would have bailed on my run all together because that is not my style, but I was definitely more excited to hit up the 'mill and earn my bling and help the kids! Needless to say, I had a great time running the Gone For A Run Four Magical Miles and help support Give Kids the World. Gone For A Run has some other great virtual runs coming up including 'Love 2 Run Virtual 2.14 Miles Race', so be sure to check them out! Thank you again to Gone For A Run for the opportunity to run "with" you this weeekend! Question of the Day: Have you ever ran a virtual race? Did you enjoy the extra motivation to get out and get out there?
