Obviously with it being Christmas weekend, races were pretty much non-existant and many runners rearranged their run schedule this weekend to accomodate holiday festitivities with family and friends. One perk about being a Fit Fam is that we find joy in the time we get to spend together logging miles. As we the past few years, our family headed out to the park to get a few miles in together on Christmas day which was the perfect opportunity for me to get my miles in for Catch Me If You Can Virtual 5K.
***Disclaimer: I was contacted by Gone For A Run to partake in this event. While receiving complimentary entry to the event, no additional compensation was given and as always all thoughts are strictly my own.**** Virtual races are a great way to go get your miles in with a fun twist. Face it, you are more likely to get your miles in on a Saturday morning if you know there is some bling waiting for you when you are done, right? However, it might not be possible to go to a race every weekend - lack of babysitter, no races in the area, frigid winter, etc. Well, virtual races are perfect for your "race free" weekends! Virtual races allow you to run/walk your race however you want to - indoor or outdoors, trail or pavement, night or day, etc. We had some very unseasonably warm temps on Christmas Day. Actually, it was the 2nd hottest Christmas Day in Atlanta with the high only one degree below last year's record high. This meant tank top and shorts out at the park today. Even better though, the weather made for a lot of families to be out at the park enjoying the day. The park had a lot of children riding their new bikes and scooters, playing on the playground, and just enjoying some sunshine on this awesome day. After logging 3.5 miles in the park, my new (and crazy adorable) bling was acquired! Seriously, how adorable is this medal?!?! To make it even better, the back of the medal is a ornament press, so you can make an ornament that is an imprint of your medal! Since holiday mayhem is in full force, I didn't get to try it (yet). Need a little extra motivation to get you through your miles in the winter months? Gone For A Run has some other great virtual runs coming up including 'Love 2 Run Virtual 2.14 Miles Race', so be sure to check them out! Thank you Gone For A Run for adding a little extra fun and excitement to getting my miles in today. Needless to say, I had a great time running Gone For A Run's Catch Me If You Can Virtual 5K and help support Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
