This weekend we would run either the 1/2 marathon relay, 1/2 marathon, or marathon on Saturday then turn around and run the 5K and/or 1 Mile on Sunday. Rather than have the 5K be a shakeout run, it would now be a recovery run this weekend.
We opted to use the race shuttle transportation to the race site since we didn't know what parking at the race would be like. We arrived to Daffin Park a little before noon and got ready to start the afternoon. When we arrived, I was instantly intrigued by Grayson Stadium. You could tell that the stadium is older and held a lot of history (you can research it if you choose to), but it was the fact that it was the home of the Savannah Bananas that really excited me. Minor league baseball teams tend to have some odd names, but this was the most amazing one I have even seen. Plus, check out that fierce mascot.
The race was made up of families, adults, and a large number of runners that ran yesterday as well. Needless to say, you could tell the runners that ran yesterday because there was a lot of pulling off to the side to stretch out heavy legs. The field also seemed to run a lot slower as a whole, but we were all having a great time - some of us even laughed about how heavy our legs felt. Hey, we want that Remix Challenge bling....
