Due to the proximity of the hotel to the start line of the Santa Hustle 1/2 Marathon and 5K and the easy access to the indoor waterpark (it is December, so the outdoor one is closed for obvious reasons), we chose to stay at the River Lodge in one of their studio suites. The studio suite offers 2 queen beds (w/ sofa bed), kitchenette, and other standard amenities. While the kitchenette isn't a huge space, it is nice to have a refrigerator, microwave, and small stove top available in your room.
The WaterDome offers a wide variety of activities for the entire family. From splash playgrounds for the littlest of family members to high intensity slides for the teens (and 'grown' kids), everyone will have a blast! While none of us were daring enough to take on Smokies Surf Rider, it is a lot of fun to watch kids (and big kids) take on the wave!
Seriously, this resort rocks! While we were not traveling with children, we all had a great time at our stay at Wilderness At The Smokies. Whether you choose to stay at the resort and play all day or venture out to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, there is something to satisfy everyone's needs.
Another successful trip to Wilderness At The Smokies is complete! Thank you to all of the wonderful staff that makes everyday at great day in the Smokies!
