My first two miles were solid and I was on pace for a PR. Then it happened...mile 3 and my bad attitude sunk in and I lost my race. My third mile was about a minute slower than my first two. I realized today that 5Ks just aren't really my jam. My heart is with half marathons, and that is ok. Will I still run 5Ks, yes. I just need to learn to see the short races as valuable miles as well.
My #DailyDeathSession partner, Danielle, and I have been busting it in the gym working on our speed and endurance and it paid off! Danielle SMASHED her 5K PR and even placed 3rd in her age group! BOOM! Hard work pays off!
It was a wonderful morning for sure. I am so happy that Danielle got her PR and I ran a good race (well, for at least the first two miles). Thank you Atlanta Track Club for providing these free races to members each year and to the Atlanta running community for just ROCKING and making our community amazing.
