When we arrived and got checked in there was hardly anyone around. Seriously, there were mainly just the pros (which were very limited) and a few other runners around. It was a little eerie. I knew by the athelete roster/start wave list that there were less people running the Blitz, but there were WAY more people that signed up that were not here thanks to this random cold snap.
The variety of obstacles was great. It was challenging and provided a nice blend of crawls, grip strength and walls. I really wish that Inversion Therapy would have been on the course, but that would have involved getting wet at the end of the obstacle which would have been brutal. Speaking of which, MANY runners opted out of things that got you wet like the water filled gap between the walls on Venus Guy Trap or attempting the upper body/grip obstacles that were above water. The one obstacle that was skipped the most? The Colossus Slide which shoots you down a 30ft slide into water at the finish line. Seriously, I saw a handful of people go down it today - most took the steps down to avoid getting soaked in 30 degree weather (and even colder weather).
